The North West Division is able to offer a wide range of engineering disciplines with specialist expertise in transportation (including light and heavy rail), structures, urban regeneration, contaminated land, geotechnics, public health, water supply, and engineering materials including cathodic protection. A senior structural engineer is required to add to the existing structural team and to allow new opportunities to be developed. Job description Key elements of the role include: Managing a project or a small portfolio of projects of various sizes Providing the design team with leadership and guidance focused on project delivery Having an appreciation of the roles of fellow professionals on multidisciplinary projects (Architect, Quantity Surveyor etc) and interfacing and coordinating with them appropriately Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a ‘hand on’ role in technical matters both at project and divisional level Interpreting commercial and/or contractual aspects of correspondence with or between fellow professionals Candidate specification: Essential qualifications, experience, competencies and skills: Degree level qualification in Structural Engineering or related field. Ability to write technical (design) reports clear and concisely. Ability to write and speak in English fluently. Computer-based analysis using off the shelf software. Are able to positively advise other disciplines regarding aspects of their design as it impacts structural engineering issues. Able to appreciate UK construction law, contracts and design codes. Understanding of financial constraints of the UK construction consulting industry. Desirable qualifications, experience, competencies and skills: Strong IT skills ideally with AutoCAD experience. Ability to listen, consult and communicate proactively. Member of ICE or IStructE at either Corporate or Associate level Enthusiastic and ambitious. Good interpersonal skills. Self motivated with good organisational capability. Business Development Ability to establish good relationship with staff and clients.
